Health City is proud to be a Community Partner for the upcoming 2019 SingularityU Canada Summit in Edmonton, April 23-24. Summit attendees will learn about the transformative impact that technologies like artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and digital medicine will have on our lives and our world. As an enabler and catalyst of innovation in the Edmonton health sector, Health City is providing a free ticket to an Edmonton computing science student and two subsidized tickets for Alberta entrepreneurs to attend this valuable event. The two entrepreneurs were chosen at random from a flash contest held in early April. Helping to attract and retain talent in the Edmonton region is an important part of Health City’s mandate. We’re pleased to provide a ticket for Xinli Cai, the VP External for AlbertaAI (Alberta Artificial Intelligence Association), a grass-roots, volunteer-led Artificial Intelligence (AI) organization based at the University of Alberta. This group fosters students in AI and computing science and is interested in developing that talent in the health sector in Alberta. We’re also pleased to provide a subsidized ticket for Colin Coros from Nanostics Inc., an Edmonton-based company that is internationally-renowned for developing a blood test to diagnose and predict prostate cancer. Colin is Nanostic’s Chief Commercialization Officer. We also provided a subsidized ticket for Feisal Keshavjee. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant for BrightSquid, a Calgary-based company that provides secure email for physicians to connect with patients. The company’s technology is applicable province-wide in Alberta. We’re glad these three Alberta innovators can benefit from this valuable professional development opportunity. We are confident that the Summit will help them expand the conversation about and share the best of Canadian and international technology, and help each of their organizations deliver health solutions in Edmonton and Alberta.
