Calls For Innovation

Health Cities is an independent Canadian not-for-profit dedicated to advancing healthcare by co-developing practical care models with partners across the health system. We engage clinicians, innovators, industry partners, and government to strengthen care delivery and improve health outcomes for individuals and communities. 

We validate and scale these care models in real-world environments to ensure new solutions integrate effectively into existing services. Health Cities helps create a sustainable and accessible healthcare landscape across Alberta and beyond. 

To support this mission, Health Cities opens Calls for Innovation aligned with ongoing projects. Responding to a Call for Innovation gives solutions the opportunity to be validated and scaled in real-world health environments, creating a measurable impact for patients, providers, and communities.

How the Process Works

• The Challenge: We publish the details of a priority challenge within an active project that requires a market-ready solution.
• The Solution: Innovators submit their applications, explaining how their solution directly meets the specific needs of the project.
• Evaluation: Submissions are rigorously assessed alongside our innovative healthcare providers using clear criteria focused on impact, feasibility, and alignment with health system priorities.
• Shortlist & Presentations: Submissions that align with the project are invited to present their solution to Health Cities and our partners for a deeper evaluation of how the tool will integrate into the care model. 
• Implementation & Validation: The chosen innovation is integrated directly into the active project. This allows us to validate the solution in a real-world setting and build the framework for broader scaling.
