What does Health City do?
We help create the collaborative environment to enable innovators to co-develop, validate, adopt and showcase the capabilities in our region.
Health City’s focus is to transform innovations from our health sector into solutions that have commercial application and global relevance. A huge opportunity for disruption in the health sector will occur in community health – addressing the issues that affect citizens’ health before it becomes chronic or acute.
We do this by:
Engaging with clinicians, innovators, philanthropic organizations, industry, academia and community to address key local health challenges (e.g. diabetes, obesity, seniors’ frailty, opioid addiction, youth mental health).
Pairing initiatives with novel capabilities from industry – including smaller local companies, large multinationals and non-traditional health companies to co-develop solutions. Since these challenges have global relevance, solutions built here can be exported globally. Our SMEs can then partner with larger multinationals to co-market their products and services internationally.
Being a trusted third party and identifying what all parties can bring to the table, including relationships, expertise, global reach, investment, innovation or policy influence. We de-risk the environment and accelerate our innovators’ solutions.
Leveraging our region’s strengths in areas like artificial intelligence, machine learning, extended reality (including augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality), block chain and internet of things, and translating these platforms (such as virtual care, home health monitoring, synthetic data) into innovations in the health sector. Technologies like these will enhance the experience of the user (patients) and increase their ability to manage their own wellness.
We strive to serve as an example of how to transform health to meet the evolving needs of our populace and build a stronger economy.
